Our digital presence#
On a society that is increasingly transforming into a digital aware compendium of social interactions, as a complement to physical relationships and real-world mixed touchpoints, our digital presence has gained a new importance as a means to preserve, reinvent and represent ourselves across a variety of digital medium.
As current technology evolves, our digital avatars are no longer bound to picture representations of our physical appearance or stagnant emoji/memoji/gif/illustrations of what we envision to represent our presence in the augmented and mixed reality world forming around us.
Digital avatars presence in the role of social interactions#
Digital avatars can be much more than a mere branding trade of our digital persona, enabling transforming experiences where we, or at least the alias we choose to take our form on these new realms, are no longer a spectator but become a part of the story as a main character participating actively in the narrative and being involved in the storytelling process.
This evolution of our digital selves can create a much more immersive experience, bringing users front and center to the story, with the customisation of the narrative and personalising each interaction
This triggers more realistic emotions on our digital interactions, and can transform a simple social network or gaming experience into an event closer to real-world contacts with others.
Challenges of the app and functionalities#
The technology being developed by our client was cutting edge and raised some technical complications when applied on mobile devices, with limited capacity and other memory management policies.
Regarding user interface being developed, the main challenge we had to solve was to allow the avatar generated to shine through as the main focal point, while allowing the usage of customisation tools for onthefly alterations that would
We focused on the interaction of using a personal device to create a relatable image of us, much like the experience of taking a selfie.
End results and project handover#
The end result of this project was an ambitious one, that we have partially managed to achieve successfully.
The resulting app for this first iteration was smooth to navigate, with a clean UI that left space for further customisations and expansion for future additions to come.
nonoIt was a stepping stone on a project and product that has attained a maturity level which we can definitely relate to and be sure to see more of in the future, applied to online gaming, AR headsets with conversational features, as well as in the next evolution of social media interactions.
